Baby Born With Heart Outside Her Chest
A routine 20 week ultrasound showed that their unborn baby girl’s heart was growing outside her chest. Little Kieran had to undergo a serious surgery right after birth because of a rare congenital heart defect.The toddler suffers from ectopic cordis which occurs in nine in every 1,000 babies. The condition is so deadly that 95 per cent of babies affected by it don’t survive beyond a week after birth while 90 per cent die within three days, according to Barcroft TV.
Kieran is now 18 months old and still needs several surgeries in the future in order to live a comfortable life. She already undergoes extensive cognitive therapy so that she can catch up with the rest of her developmentally advanced peers. Her parents are now raising funds for her to enable them to pay for her medical bills.
